Agency Reports Submitted to the General Assembly

Section 101.68(B) of the Revised Code requires that when reports must be submitted to the General Assembly, copies of the reports must be submitted to the Director of the Legislative Service Commission (LSC). Section 101.68(C) requires LSC to monthly inform each member of the General Assembly of the reports received. Below is the annotated bibliography of reports recently submitted to LSC. The bibliography, compiled by the LSC Library staff, also includes other documents that may be of interest to legislators. Report required by R.C. 109.65(F); summarizes the activities of the clearinghouse over last year; provides statistics on missing children by county and by month; describes its use of AMBER alerts and endangered missing child alerts; highlights the virtual activities in Ohio to commemorate National Missing Children's Day; describes its collaboration with other agencies, such as Ohio human trafficking task forces and U.S. Marshals, to locate missing or abducted children and prevent future incidents, with human trafficking tasks forces and U.S. Marshals; identifies its services to the public and law enforcement agencies, its national resources and partners, and its publications.

Report required by R.C. 3323.20; reporting period covers SFY 2023; notes an increase of 10.6% of preschool students receiving special education services over the last reporting year; more than 69.55% of students receive services due to a developmental delay or speech and language impairment; Autism (19.18%) and Multiple Disabilities combined with Other Health Impairment – Minor (7.9%) were the next two largest categories.

SAFETY BELT TASK FORCE, OHIO.

TASK FORCE REPORT AND RECOMMENDATIONS, May 2024, 18 pages

Task Force formed by the Ohio Department of Public Safety (DPS) and run though the Ohio Traffic Safety Council’s Occupant Protection Subcommittee; describes national and state-wide statistics for safety belt usage, and the results of several surveys on attitudes of Ohio drivers toward safety belts; outlines current Ohio safety belt laws, and compares those laws with other states; summarizes Task Force meetings; lists recommendations, including making failure to wear safety belts a primary offense, increased fines and penalties, increased education for the public and in schools, and increased attention on safety belt use in the backseats of vehicles.
