Section 101.68(B) of the Revised Code requires that when reports must be submitted to the General Assembly, copies of the reports must be submitted to the Director of the Legislative Service Commission (LSC). Section 101.68(C) requires LSC to monthly inform each member of the General Assembly of the reports received. Below is the annotated bibliography of reports recently submitted to LSC. The bibliography, compiled by the LSC Library staff, also includes other documents that may be of interest to legislators. The Select Committee on Rail Safety was formed on February 24, 2023, to gain a better understanding of why the derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, occurred, where the recovery stands, and to determine how the Ohio General Assembly can help the people of East Palestine recover, and how to best prevent and respond to future accidents. The report contains summaries of testimony and documents submitted to the Committee. Recommendations include encouraging the passage of the federal Rail Safety Act of 2023 (S. 576), additional training and resouces for first responders, and study of soil, water, and agriculture in East Palestine.
