Agency Reports Submitted to the General Assembly

Section 101.68(B) of the Revised Code requires that when reports must be submitted to the General Assembly, copies of the reports must be submitted to the Director of the Legislative Service Commission (LSC). Section 101.68(C) requires LSC to monthly inform each member of the General Assembly of the reports received. Below is the annotated bibliography of reports recently submitted to LSC. The bibliography, compiled by the LSC Library staff, also includes other documents that may be of interest to legislators. ATTORNEY GENERAL'S CONSUMER PROTECTION SECTION, OHIO.

CONSUMER PROTECTION SECTION ANNUAL REPORT, 2021, 31 pages

Report required by R.C. Chapter 1345; describes lawsuits, judgments, and settlements from 2021 sought to ensure compliance with the Consumer Sales Practices Act; in 2021, staff members assisted more the 20,500 consumers with fraud complaints, and received more than 23,000 reports of robocalls to the Robocall Enforcement Unit.

CAPITAL CRIMES: STATE AND FEDERAL CASES, 2021, 412 pages

Report required by R.C. 109.97(B); provides legislative history of capital punishment in Ohio; explains the statutes, executive clemency review, the law as it relates to individuals with disability, and DNA testing; presents statistics, including demographic characteristics, about individuals receiving death sentences; includes case history sheets for every case that resulted in a death sentence since 1981, noting state and federal procedural events; reports that as of December 31, 2021, 336 individuals received a death sentence (341 total death sentences because five individuals received two sentences), 56 executions were carried out, 82 have been removed from death row by judicial action, and notes there are 134 people (136 sentences) on death row.
