Section 101.68(B) of the Revised Code requires that when reports must be submitted to the General Assembly, copies of the reports must be submitted to the Director of the Legislative Service Commission (LSC). Section 101.68(C) requires LSC to monthly inform each member of the General Assembly of the reports received. Below is the annotated bibliography of reports recently submitted to LSC. The bibliography, compiled by the LSC Library staff, also includes other documents that may be of interest to legislators. ANNUAL REPORT ON EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION GRANTS, FISCAL YEAR 2020, December 2020, 4 pages
Report required by Section 265.20 of H.B. 49 of the 132nd General Assembly; provides statistics on early childhood programs that received state funding, including the amount of state funding, teacher credentials and professional development, and the number of children served.
ANNUAL REPORT ON OFFICE OF SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP, JULY 1, 2019-JUNE 30, 2020, November 2020, 7 pages
Report required by R.C. 3314.029; indicates that during the 2019-2020 school year, the Office of School Sponsorship sponsored 28 brick and mortar schools, five of which used a blended model, and two online schools; provides statistics on the percentage of enrollment of students who are economically disadvantaged students and the percentage of students with disabilities in 2020; includes short description of each school with links to more information; notes the Department rates the Office of School Sponsorship as "Exceeds Expectations" for compliance with all laws and rules and provides a link to information about each school's compliance with laws and rules.
OHIO SCHOOL BREAKFAST PROGRAM: IMPLEMENTATION AND EFFECTIVENESS, December 2020, 7 pages
Report required by R.C. 3313.818 and required to use the following data measures: (1) number of students and participation rates in the free and reduced-price breakfast program for each school building, (2) type of breakfast model used by each school building taking part in the breakfast program, and (3) number of students and participation rates in free or reduced-price lunch for each school building; the Department reports that the breakfast and lunch programs changed delivery methods starting March 2020, due to the Covid-19 school closures, creating disparate data sets; for this report the Department indicates the most reliable measures are from October 2019 through March 2020 and that data is used; presents statistics about participation in the school breakfast and lunch program and provides some historical comparisons, noting as of February 2020, 3,612 Ohio schools offer USDA nutrition programs and more than 89% of those schools operate both the School Breakfast Program and National School Lunch Program; states there was an increase of 0.83% above school year 2019; complete statistics for each school building is available at http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Student-Supports/Food-and-Nutrition/Resources-and-Tools-for-Food-and-Nutrition/MR81-Data-for-Free-and-Reduced-Price-Meal-Eligibil.
PRESCHOOL AND SCHOOL-AGE CHILD CARE LICENSING REPORT, July 1, 2019-June 30, 2020, 17 pages
Report required by R.C. 3301.57; reports the following statistics about preschools and school-age child programs licensed by the Department: number of sites licensed, enrollment figures, funding sources, number of site inspections, and the number of violations by type of violations.
STUDENT WELLNESS AND SUCCESS FUND: SURVEY DATA REPORT, December 2020, 13 pages
Report compiles data required to be reported to the Department of Education by R.C. 3317.26; information collected via a Department survey to learn how funds allocated to schools were utilized within the allowable uses as described in R.C. 3317.26 for the period October 17, 2019, through June 30, 2020; key findings reported: (1) more than 3,000 initiatives were implemented, (2) "mental health services" was the most popular initiative, and (3) more than one-third of the initiatives were new and nearly one-third were expanded initiatives; provides detailed statistics on spending of the $275 million allocated to this fund; summarizes responses to survey question about the schools' "overarching goals for the funds"; sidebars highlight programs in school districts across the state.
OHIO'S OCCUPATIONAL LICENSING AND REGULATORY BOARDS ANNUAL REPORT FOR FY 2020, December 2020, 21 pages
Required by R.C. 103.13(H); includes a simplified cash balance statement for the 23 funds used primarily by the boards and commissions for operations and summarizes the revenue and expenditure activities for FY 2020; compares the total number of active licenses for each board or commission in FY 2020 to FY 2019; financial and licensing data presented in this report was compiled from information provided by the boards and commissions and data from the Ohio Administrative Knowledge System (OAKS).
