State Cosmetology and Barber Board
Governor appoints the following with advice and consent of Senate: 1 individual holding a current, valid cosmetologist or cosmetology instructor license at time of appointment; 2 individuals holding current, valid cosmetologist licenses and actively engaged in managing beauty salons at least five years at time of appointment; 1 individual who holds a current, valid independent contractor license at time of appointment; 1 individual who represents individuals who teach the theory and practice of a branch of cosmetology at a vocational or career-technical school and who is among three persons nominated for appointment by the Director of Education and Workforce; 1 owner or executive actively engaged in the daily operations of a licensed school; 1 owner of at least 5 licensed salons; 1 individual who is either a certified nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist, or a physician authorized to practice medicine and surgery or osteopathic medicine and surgery; 1 individual representing the general public; 1 individual who holds a current, valid tanning permit and who has owned or managed a tanning facility for at least five years; 1 individual who holds a current, valid esthetician license and who has been actively practicing esthetics for at least five years; one employer barber who has been licensed as barbers in this state for at least five years; 1 individual who holds a current valid barber or barber instructor license and who has been licensed as a barber or barber instructor in this state for at least five years. All members must be at least 25 years of age, residents of Ohio, and citizens of the United States. No more than two members, at any time, may be graduates of the same school. Not more than 1 member may have a common financial connection with any school, salon, barber shop, or tanning facility.
