Qualifications
The Committee is created in the Department of Health. The Director of Health appoints 1 representative of each of the following: (1) an Ohio organ procurement organization that belongs to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, (2) an Ohio tissue bank that is an accredited member of the American Association of Tissue Banks, (3) an Ohio eye bank that is a certified member of the Eye Bank Association of America, (4) the Ohio Solid Organ Transplantation Consortium, (5) a hospital that is a member of the Ohio Hospital Association and that has a transplant program or a facility verified as a Level I or Level II trauma center by the American College of Surgeons, and (6) the Department of Health. The Director also appoints 3 public members who must not be affiliated with procurement organizations and 2 members who are affiliated with procurement organizations or are members of the public. Three other organ procurement organizations not represented under (1), (2), or (3) above must be represented by appointments in place of the 3 initial public members. The members described in (1) through (6) above must be geographically and demographically representative of the state, and no more than 3 of these members may be affiliated with the same procurement organization or group of procurement organizations. Procurement organizations that recover only one type of organ, tissue, or part, as well as recovery agencies that recover more than one type, must be represented. No person, except for legislative members, may serve more than 2 full or partial consecutive terms.
