Qualifications
Governor appoints the following with the advice and consent of the Senate: (a) 3 owners or operators of a business that maintains a Class A license who have at least 5 years' experience in Ohio in the business of private investigation or security services, (b) 1 owner or operator of a business that maintains a Class B license who has at least 5 years' experience in Ohio in the business of private investigation or security services, (c) 1 owner or operator of a business that maintains a Class C license who has at least 5 years' experience in Ohio in the business of private investigation or security services, (d) 2 owners or operators of a business that maintains a Class A, B, or C license who have at least 5 years' experience in Ohio in the business of private investigation or security services, (e) 1 incumbent police chief, (f) 1 active law enforcement officer, not above the rank of lieutenant, (g) 1 incumbent sheriff, and (h) 2 members to represent the general public who never has a direct relationship with any Class A, B, or C licensee. 90 days before the expiration of a member's term or in case of a vacancy, the Ohio Association of Security and Investigation Services may recommend persons to the Governor for consideration for appointment. The Superintendent of the Highway Patrol, or the Superintendent's designee, is a voting member, and the Director of Public Safety, or the Director's designee, is a nonvoting member. Appointed members may not serve more than two consecutive five-year terms.
