Qualifications
Board members appointed by Governor: 4 occupational therapists and 1 licensed occupational therapy assistant who have been engaged in or actively associated with the practice of occupational therapy or as an occupational therapy assistant in Ohio for at least the preceding 5 years; 5 licensed physical therapists who have been engaged in or actively associated with the practice of physical therapy in Ohio for at least the preceding 5 years; 1 physician licensed to practice medicine and surgery in Ohio; 1 public member and 4 athletic trainers who have been engaged in athletic training in Ohio for at least 5 years immediately preceding appointment. The Board's Physical Therapy Section also consists of 4 additional members appointed by the Governor, who must meet the same qualifications as Board members sitting on the Physical Therapy Section, but who are not Board members. These additional members are vested with only powers and duties relating to that Section and serve the same terms as do other members of that Section. The Board of Trustees of the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association and the Executive Board of Ohio Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association may recommend 3 persons for each opening in their fields. The Ohio Athletic Trainers Association must recommend 3 persons for each opening in its field. All members must be Ohio residents and members must not serve more than 3 consecutive terms.
