Governor makes appointments with advice and consent of Senate. All 13 members must be citizens of the U.S. and residents of Ohio. 8 members must be registered nurses who are graduates of an approved nursing education program preparing students for licensing as a registered nurse, who hold a currently active registered nurse license in Ohio, and who have been actively engaged in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse for the 5 years immediately preceding the member's initial appointment to the Board. Of the 8 members who are registered nurses, at least 1 must hold a valid certificate of authority that authorizes the practice of nursing as a certified registered nurse anesthetist, clinical nurse specialist, certified nurse-midwife, or certified nurse practitioner. 4 members must be licensed practical nurses who are graduates of an approved nursing education program preparing students for licensing as a practical nurse, who hold a currently active practical nurse license in Ohio, and who have been actively engaged in the practice of nursing as a licensed practical nurse for the 5 years immediately preceding the member's initial appointment to the Board. 1 member must represent the interests of consumers of health care. Neither the member representing consumers nor any person in that member's immediate family can be a member of or associated with a health care provider or profession or have a financial interest in the delivery or financing of health care. In making appointments, the Governor must consider representation of nursing service and nursing education and the various geographical areas of Ohio. Ohio nursing organizations may each submit to the Governor the names of not more than 5 nominees for each position to be filled. Governor makes appointments from the names so submitted or from others, at the Governor's discretion but with the advice and consent of the Senate. A member who has served 2 full terms cannot be reappointed. An unexpired term of more than 30 months is considered a full term.
