Governor appoints 9 graduates of reputable dental schools who are citizens of the U.S. and have been in legal and reputable practice of dentistry in Ohio for at least the preceding 5 years; 3 graduates of reputable schools of dental hygiene who are citizens of the U.S. and have been in the legal and reputable practice of dental hygiene in Ohio for at least the preceding 5 years; and 1 member of the public not associated with or financially interested in the practice of dentistry. Two of the dentist members must be specialists recognized by Board rule, and they must be appointed so that the same speciality is not represented by both members at the same time. Only 1 of the dental hygienist members may be a person employed as a full-time teacher of dental hygiene students. Governor must take geographical representation into account when making appointments. Governor cannot appoint a person who is employed by or practices in a health insuring corporation holding a certificate of authority with a person who is a Board member. Members may not serve more than 2 terms. Ohio Dental Association and Ohio Dental Hygienists Association, Inc., may each submit 5 names to the Governor for each dentist or dental hygienist appointment. |
