Supreme Court Chief Justice	H.B. 670, 121st G.A. changed former "Commission" to "Council." S.B. 107 of the 123rd General Assembly reverted back to "Commission."

Qualifications
Commission consists of 31 members and is created within the Supreme Court. Chief Justice of the Supreme Court appoints 1 appeals court judge, 3 municipal or county court judges, 3 common pleas court judges who are not juvenile court judges, and 3 juvenile court judges; not more than 6 of these appointees may be members of the same political party. The Governor, after consulting with the appropriate state organizations that are represented by the following, appoints 1 sheriff; 2 county prosecuting attorneys, at least 1 of whom must be experienced in the prosecution of cases in juvenile court involving alleged delinquent or unruly children and juvenile traffic offenders; 2 peace officers of a municipal corporation or township, at least 1 of whom must be experienced in the investigation of cases involving juveniles; 1 crime victim; 1 attorney whose legal practice involves primarily the representation of criminal defendants; 1 member of the Ohio State Bar Association; 1 attorney whose legal practice primarily involves the representation in juvenile court of alleged delinquent or unruly children and juvenile traffic offenders; 1 full-time city prosecuting attorney; 1 county commissioner; and 1 mayor, city manager, or member of a legislative authority of a municipal corporation; not more than 7 of these appointees may be members of the same political party. In making their appointments, Chief Justice and Governor must consider adequate representation by race and gender. House Speaker and House Minority Leader each appoint 1 House member, and Senate President and Senate Minority Leader each appoint 1 Senate member. Chief Justice, State Public Defender, Director of Rehabilitation and Correction, Director of Youth Services, and Superintendent of the State Highway Patrol, or their designees, are ex officio members.
