Commission annually elects from among its members. H.B. 152, 120th G.A., changed the name of the Commission; which was formerly known as the Commission on Socially Disadvantaged Black Males.
Qualifications
Ohio State Univerisity African American and African Studies Community Extension Center, in consultation with the Governor, appoints 4 members from the private corporate sector, at least 4 members from the public sector, and 2 members from the nonprofit sector. Senate President appoints 2 Senate members, and House Speaker appoints 2 House members, each of whom must be members of different political parties and all of whom are nonvoting members. The Directors of Health, Development, Job and Family Services, and Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services, or their designees; the Equal Employment Opportunity Officer of the Department of Administrative Services, the Executive Director of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, the Executive Director of the Division of Criminal Justice Services in the Department of Public Safety, and the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents, or their designees; and the Superintendent of Public Instruction are ex officio members.
